Nervous patients
Being fearful of the dentist is also known as dentophobia or dental anxiety. Fear of the dentist, or rather for the treatment itself, is very common and also very understandable. However, as in most cases, fear is a poor counsellor. People who suffer from dental anxiety are often tempted to postpone their periodic dental check-ups out of a fear for pain.
Unfortunately this does mean that when you start experiencing pain and decide to visit the dentist, it’s often much worse than if you went to your periodic dental check-ups. Pain is more often than not an indicator of a larger cavity or infection, which requires more treatment.
